Hosted by Burapha University (BUU), STE 2027 will bring together researchers, educators, industry representatives, and practitioners from around the world to explore the conference theme: “Co-Creating the Smart Industrial Future Through Education.”
Advancing Smart Technologies and Engineering Education
STE is the annual conference of IAOE and EWA and the successor of the well-established REV Conference series. Over the years, the conference has become an important international forum for exchanging ideas, presenting research results, and discussing emerging developments in smart technologies, online engineering, and technology-enhanced education.
Building on the success of STE 2026 in Brașov, Romania, which brought together more than 150 participants from over 30 countries, the 2027 edition will continue to foster dialogue between academia, industry, and policy makers while exploring how education can support the rapidly evolving needs of smart industries and digital societies. The conference will address a broad range of topics related to smart technologies, engineering education, and workforce development, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, industrial automation, data science, entrepreneurship, sustainability, vocational education, remote and virtual laboratories, and emerging learning technologies.

In addition, the conference will continue its strong focus on innovative approaches to engineering education, workforce development, and the integration of advanced technologies into teaching and learning. As in previous years, STE aims to bring together diverse perspectives from academia, industry, vocational education, and policy to address the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation.
Opportunities for Participation
STE 2027 welcomes submissions in a variety of formats, including full papers, short papers, posters, workshops, tutorials, round tables, demonstrations, and special sessions. Online presentations will also be possible through dedicated conference tracks.
Important Dates
- 28 September 2026 – Submission of structured abstracts and special session proposals
- 05 October 2026 – Notification of abstract acceptance
- 09 November 2026 – Submission of complete papers and proposals for workshops, tutorials, and round tables
- 23 November 2026 – Notification of acceptance
- 21 December 2026 – Camera-ready submission and author registration deadline
- 24 February 2027 – Conference opening
